Direct answers to the questions pro traders actually ask, about validation, publishing, earning, and what Sonar Sciences does and deliberately does not claim. Deeper treatments are linked from every answer.
Sonar Sciences is a research workspace for pro traders. You build rule-based strategies in the free Studio, validate them against four years of cross-venue price data with spreads, slippage, and funding included, and run the survivors on a broker account you connect. Every performance number is computed by the platform, not by you; the execution fee applies only to your own winning trades; and no customer funds are ever held by the platform. Execution is paper-first by default.
Sonar Sciences is a pro-trader platform for validating rule-based trading strategies on four years of real cross-venue price data and running the validated ones on a broker account you connect. The platform computes all performance results itself, and charges only on your own winning trades when it executes a strategy to your broker account.
The Studio, including full backtesting across all five data streams, is free for every pro trader. Access to Sonar's own models is tiered: entry models are free forever, Basic is 29 dollars per month, Pro is 99, and Premium is 299, with 2 months free on yearly billing. Building and backtesting cost nothing. The ten day live forward round runs on a Pro seat, because it consumes real execution capacity. Platform economics apply only to winning trades.
Every backtest applies real costs, results are computed across 62 grouped metrics including the deflated Sharpe ratio, parameter calibration exposes stability, and an out-of-sample gate holds the final verdict: if the edge is not real on data the rules never saw, the strategy does not pass.
No. Results are computed by the platform's own engine on its own data; nobody uploads performance claims. Every strategy is versioned, so a result stays permanently attached to the exact rule version that produced it, and losing periods remain visible in the full window.
Not today. Publishing a strategy for other people to follow, copy trading, paid signals and any performance-linked pricing are not offered while the necessary reviews and approvals are completed. What the platform does today is let you build and validate your own strategies and run them on a broker account you connect, with every figure computed by the platform rather than claimed by anyone. Sonar makes no promise about investment returns.
No, and it never will. Past performance, simulated or live, does not guarantee future results. Sonar Sciences's claim is narrower and provable: every number is computed by the platform on stated data with stated assumptions, so you know exactly what a result does and does not prove.
Execution is paper-first by default. Live venue connectors are enabled deliberately and progressively, never silently, and Sonar Sciences does not market live capability beyond what is verified and armed. Research prices and broker prices always differ; the platform states this rather than hiding it.
Gold, FX majors, indices, and oil, across five data streams: technical indicators, chart patterns, market data feeds, market sentiment, and wallet intelligence. Strategies compose conditions from any of them in the Studio.
Yes; that is the design. The Studio composes strategies from 79 calibratable indicator and pattern families with no code. Developers who prefer code can work with the documented Data and Stream APIs.
The difference is the evidence standard. On a typical signal service, the provider supplies their own performance claims; here every figure is computed by the platform on its own data, against four years of history with real costs and an out-of-sample gate, and a result stays versioned and immutable rather than editable. Sonar does not sell signals and does not offer any way to publish a strategy for other people to follow. Nobody, on either side, can promise a return. The comparisons with specific platforms are on the compare pages.
No. Sonar Sciences is a software platform for research, validation, and executing your own strategies. It is not a broker, dealer, exchange, custodian, or investment adviser, does not provide personalized investment advice, and does not hold client funds for trading. Trades execute through venues you connect. This posture is stated in the terms.
Bring one strategy you already trust. The Studio validates it against four years of real data, costs included, for free.
